Studies on Perception of Women and Problems in Indian Context

Abstract

Empowerment of women is a long-drawn process which requires harmony betweenachieving long term goals and addressing day to day struggles faced by women. In thisprocess of empowerment, various stakeholders such as civil society groups, women'sorganizations, political parties, media and academic institutions have a vital role to play.The perspective from which each of these agencies view the challenge ofwomen empowerment differ. This study attempts to observe different agencies, debates andissues that have played a crucial role in initiating the intervention of state and society ingender construction in India. Since the area is too vast few important illustrative issuesthat have drawn the attention of state and society have been studied. It was thought studyof gender construction process would be incomplete without the understanding these issues.
