Abstract

Smart phones, traffic lights, medical equipment, and smart home gadgets all contribute to the mountain of data being produced by the Internet of Things. Because these devices lack smart memory or processing power, the data must be transmitted to the cloud for storage, processing, and other purposes. However, sending data to the cloud has become an undesirable process due to increased energy consumption, the cost of uploading data, delay, and the requirement for Internet access. Recently, the term "fog" has emerged to describe a data architecture in which nodes are located close to end-user devices and can handle these phones locally. This article is a comprehensive review of the current FC options available for MCS systems. In particular, we focus on the network topology, the data flows, the resource and service management, and the privacy and security measures used.
