Ground Water Management Plan at a Multispeciality Hospital, Greater Noida

Published 2021-09-28

Abstract

The availability of groundwater is neither endless nor resistive to deterioration; in most instances, excessive groundwater extraction has resulted in wells drying up, ecosystem destruction, land subsidence, saltwater intrusion, and resource depletion. This study examines a situation that arose in Hospital as a result of a low groundwater level. The water table in the area is around 3.1 metres deep before the monsoon and 2.8 metres deep after the monsoon. The hospital's basement, which was inundated at a depth of 9880mm, was flooded. There was also a problem with seepage from the walls, which could not be fixed even after injection grouting. The water proofing that was done on the job site also failed. As a result, this paper emphasises the use of Hydro Abstraction wells to correct the seepage problem and proper groundwater management in terms of the qualitative and quantitative potential of Multispecialty Hospital and the surrounding area.
