Investigating the Relationship between Managers’ Leadership Styles (based on Likert theory) and Employees’ Job Satisfaction in Jumbo Chain Stores Branches in the Tehran City

Abstract

The overall purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between leadership style of managers of jumbo chain companies (based on Likert's leadership style) and job satisfaction of employees. The method of this research is correlational, the statistical population of the research is 144 managers and employees .The sample size using Morgan table was 56 people were selected by simple random sampling. Two job satisfaction questionnaires, Smith Kendall and Hulin, and a researcher-made Likert leadership style questionnaire were used to collect information. Findings indicate that: 1: There is no relationship between the authoritarian style of managers and job satisfaction of employees. 2: There is a relationship between benevolent leadership style and employee job satisfaction .3: There is a relationship between consulting leadership style and employee job satisfaction. 4: There is a relationship between participatory leadership style and employee job satisfaction. 5: The average use of consulting and participatory styles is more than other leadership styles. 6: The job satisfaction of employees was about 88%. 7: Among Likert leadership styles, consulting style is the best predictor of job satisfaction.
