“A critical study on the novels of Manoranjan Lahary”,

Abstract

 Manoranjan Lahary was a famous novelist of Bodo literature. He contributed in different fields of literature like poem, prose, short-story, novel, drama, criticism etc. He created nine novels in his carrier of literature. These novels are Kharlung(1976), Hainamuli (1985), Rebecca (1999),Alaishri (2003), Daini? (2005), Jom (2006) and Fami (2008). All of his novels are social novel. He focuses social picture of the Bodo society like agriculture, food habits, customs, marriage system, in the novels. Bodo people like to stay in village area and their main occupation is farming. The Bodo society is predictable for its individual folks and customs. To order to develop their culture, they preserve their distinct customs and traditions. In these novels, the socio-cultural perspective includes economy, religion, customs, traditions as well as political, social conflict and others. Moreover, in the aspects economy it also includes village economy, agro-based economy. On the other hand, in the aspects of society this includes both rural and urban life style and other social behavior.
