Principles and positions of US foreign policy against terrorism

Published 2021-09-01

Abstract

The present study aimed to examine the principles and positions of US foreign policy against terrorism. The research method is descriptive-analytical. The method of collecting information is library. The data collection tool is note-taking. The method of data analysis is qualitative. Studies have shown that considering the US approach and foreign policy towards the opposing countries generally shows that terrorism has always been used as a tool to advance US foreign policy. US foreign policy has been able to fill the gap in US foreign policy that was created with the end of the Cold War by fighting terrorism. This does not mean that terrorism and terrorist groups are not against the interests of the United States; however, this country at least uses the concept of terrorism to label its opponents and also actually supports terrorist groups to advance its interests. The issue of banning the entry of nationals of certain countries on the pretext of securing the American people, who ironically oppose US foreign policy, shows that Trump's immigration policies are purely political and intended to put pressure on these countries.
