Enhancing Participation in Peace Development programs:The Lopez, Quezon Experience in Local Governance

Abstract

This research study entitled “Enhancing Participation in Peace and Development Programs: The Lopez, Quezon Experience in Local Governance” addresses the problem of the lack of clear policy on the role of the local government units (the municipality and barangays) in the peace and security efforts, the lack of guidance and support from the national agencies tasked with peace and security, the unbalanced emphasis on social and economic development efforts, the lack of integration of the preventive and during and after crises/emergency/security intervention efforts and agencies involved, and the lack of participation of local citizens in the peace and development programs.
