Abstract

Microorganisms occur naturally, and their importance in human life is expanding. Many bioactive chemicals and mediator roles in bioremediation of different contaminants are produced by marine bacteria. Approximately 70% of Earth is covered by ocean. Bacteria, fungus, and algae are the foundation of the food web in these ecosystems. By aggregating small molecules and causing them to sink, the exudates of microbial cells (such as polysaccharide) in the marine environment play an important role in energy cycling between the surface and the bottom of the sea. By acting as a "biologic pump," it helps with carbon sequestration and re-emission. Producing polysaccharides from marine environments and their potential uses are discussed in this article.
