Impact of Indo – Nepal Border Road on Attitude and Socio-Economic Conditions of the Residents

Abstract

The study tries to understand the opportunities & challenges in construction of Indo-Nepal Boarder Road. As it has huge impact in economic and social development of both Indian and Nepalese Citizen. The study aims to focus on impact of Indo-Nepal Boarder road on the livelihood of the both countries. The study population consisted of various type of people living in Indian side covering approximate 35 km length right from village Khirdwari to Tanakpur covering different locations e.g. Seem, Chuka, Thuligarh, Boom, Gandakhali, Kakrali gate finally upto Tanakpur city , District Champawat of Uttarakhand state in India. Border security employees SSB (Shastra Seema Bal) right from Border Out Post (BOP) Seem to Tanakpur covering various BOPs e.g. Chuka, Khaldhunga 1, Khaldhunga 2, Srikund,Purnagiri, Thuligarh and finally the BOP of Tanakpur near NHPC Barrage, Uttarakhand (India). The study tries to understand the relationship between education qualification and attitude of the respondents with respect to the benefit associated with construction of India Nepal border road.
