Samarkand Educational System in the Second Half of the XIX Century and Early XX Century

Abstract

This article covers the education system, madrassas and schools in Samarkand in the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. Data on the activities, educational process and curricula of madrassas, which are considered to be higher education institutions, were analyzed. Also, the transformation process in the education system has been revealed based on archival documents. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of Russian schools and Jadid schools in the development of social and cultural life in Samarkand.
