A Study on Pre and Post Demonetization Effects on Investment Pattern of Investors (With Special Refernce to Tiruchirapalli District)

Abstract

Demonetization is defined as an economic policy or the procedure through which the central government nullify the legal tender status of a currency unit in circulation. After demonetization, that currency unit cannot be used as money. The Central government believes that demonetization is required for controlling Inflation, Fight against corruption, to counterfeit currency and discourage cash transaction in economy for the betterment of the country. Demonetization has baited people to invest more and also it has the effect on the investment behavioral pattern of people.  Investment in general context means any money that is spent today in the hope of financial benefits that may be derived in a future time frame.

The research has been designed with survey model and the present study focuses on the analysis of pre and post demonetization impact on Investors preferred Investment Avenue that includes Financial Instruments / government securities, FD, RD, post office saving deposits, NSC, PPF/NPF, Precious metals, Real estate etc. with the help of statistical tools.
