Role of HR in Developing Intrapreneurial Orientation amongst Employees: A Conceptual Framework on Issues & Challenges in Digital Era

Abstract

Today when everyone is talking about digitisation in organisation that not only eases process, practices and policies but also provides an edge towards innovation and creativity. This paper focusses on Intrapreneurship or corporate entrepreneurship within organisations and how HR helps in skill development of employees. A process in which employees apply out of the box approaches to increase the organisational effectiveness. One has to put sincere efforts to bring intrapreneurial mindset in organisation that develops and add value to all the stakeholders leading to profitability in business.This paper is an effort to explore those issues and challenges which restricts Intrapreneurship in organisation that leads to new age transformation.The issues and challenges mainly focusses upon individual/personal aspects of an employees,Organisational aspects that promotes intrapreneurs, Societal aspects because of which intrapreneurs are born and cross-cultural aspects.As per (The Financial Times, 2011)”An intrapreneur is a  corporate manager who believes in experimenting and taking up new initiative for their company resulting in organisational growth .Human Resources since aegis is indulge in motivating and engaging employees on the tasks which can enhance the skills, abilities, talent and culture. Zahra ,1995 defines that Intrapreneurship is the total efforts put in by organisation and hence requires an approach which completely focusses on developing and recognising the intrapreneurs. This research will help the organisation to understand the  aspects that HR need to focus in motivating employees to remain productive and effective throughout their tenure.The future implications of the study are also discussed in this paper based on trends and techniques to be developed in 21 century workforce. However, the previous research conducted  has shown that continuous efforts need to be done for revival and survival and creating a culture of innovation in this rapidly changing environment.
