Abstract

The present paperThe Problem of Alienation and its Harrowing Experiences: An Analysis of Peter Handke’sThe Afternoon of a Writer attempts to analyze the problem of alienation and its harrowing experiences from the existential point of philosophy. Though human beings are free to choose and take decisions in their day-to-day life, they are responsible for their actions. In the contemporary society, many are chained not by society but by the mental trauma, depression, alienation, identity crisis, and uprootedness. The paper makes an attempt to patch up the disconnection of the protagonist from the outside world through many encounters that reaffirm confidence in him. It tries to eradicate the struggles of the nameless author’s mind and articulates by making aware of the pitfalls both internally and externally.
